Passionate!

Last year I built an interior for a previous modular building after a Pasión del Cielo coffee shop. Having decided to abandon the building, I saved the details for a new home, and I can happily say it's finished! Comes with an upstairs fitness store and yoga studio as well.

Not Much Has Changed, Really...

Holy cow, has it really been a year and a half since I last touched this blog? Time flies! I am happy to announce my triumphant return to the blogosphere. I feel this that this has always been the perfect forum to communicate my thoughts and the state of the railfanning and model railroading hobby, as I see fit. And lots more is to come as I continue to rebuild my network here and on my YouTube channel. HOT, HOT, HOT! News from FEC and a Special Miami Vantage Point

The Florida East Coast Railway has just announced that it will purchase twenty-four GE ES44C4s from General Electric Transportation . It sounds like the once-stubborn Shortline by the Shoreline finally listened to the pleas of its folks and fans and broke down about 55 million buckaroos to get some clean locomotives. The ES44C4s have different traction mechanisms than the popular ES44AH. This follows semi-official word from Jan 15 that the purchase was to be green-lighted. Many folks are had upset that the railroad is no longer a virgin to GE, and are puzzled that they are getting more engines than they need. It needs to be remembered that as it is, the railroad is power short. Plus, the SD70M-2s, which had left the company in dissatisfaction are going to be handed back to EMD soon. Two Strange New Pieces in 2014 Friends Sets

Sifting through some inventories on Bricklink, I found the parts list for the less than desirable Sunshine Ranch Friends Set and found two oddballs: 14719 Tile 2x2 Corner - A fairly essential piece, it resolves the need for improvising this configuration with a 1x2 and 1x1. Personally, I find this as juniorization for this configuration but it can certainly come in handy. This set has four in white. 15397 Plate 3x3 Cross - AKA "Railroad Crossing" piece, this part is the combination of a 1x3 with 1x1s off the center, making a perfect X. Robin and I used a similar but thicker configuration to rig crossbucks as I remember it, but this piece will, when released in white, eliminate the need for it. 1 of this is in Dark Orange in the ranch, presumably for the tree. Trees and certain connections will render this part quite useful.
