Updates and Aviation News for South Florida / Miami International and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International
Before I start:
Sometimes I feel pretty unstable with blogs, and change the way I post time to time on Blogger. In the first place, I had a previous account until I standardized everything under "TolgaCSXRailfan" in 2011 so some of the topics may seem redundant. In 2011, I created just about four to five blogs but I feel that it is too dilute right now. Statistically, the most popular blog is my Trainz Simulator 12 blog, and I am very satisfied about that. Nonetheless, I want to bring attention to the other topics that I deal with on YouTube and web media but I will still focus on Trainz. I still might keep that blog independent but all of the other topics are being fused to this one. The reason is simple; not because of lack of traffic but because 1. everything is relative and 2. there are being so many changes that you cannot imagine to the infrastructure (rail, sea, air, etc.) that I want to document and cover both by video and text (sometimes, text only when I feel it appropriate). As a supplement to the YouTube channel (please subscribe!) I want this to be THE blog that covers written pieces and news.
This blog was once a personal type of piece, but I feel that I do not have the time to update readers on personal thoughts, complaints, accolades, and so on. Since it has the right URL, I'll build on it with the new theme that I feel appropriate for it.
OK, enough of that.
As of this month and with the onset of the Winter 2013 flight season, the South Florida Aviation scene is changing. There are also new and somewhat exciting changes coming in the future.

- It has been reported that Lufthansa's A380 service to Miami, FL will be year-round instead of seasonal! While this is unfortunate for Boeing fans, especially of the 747-8I, I am particularly happy that the double-decker jet will last the entire year. I'll finally have my chance to board it to Turkey next summer.
- Aerolineas Argentinas longhaul service from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Miami, FL will be dropped to Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The service has been previously flown by A340-200 and A340-300 aircraft. The old and iconic planes will be missed. The A330 should bear the similar new graphics that the 343s have been bringing in. The new arrangement begins January 1 on its 2-a-day flights.
- The best news yet, Qatar Airlines begins flying here on June 1! The first Middle Eastern carrier to MIA will begin service with Boeing 777-200LR aircraft, the first of its kind here. Carlos and I have seen one 777-200LR at MIA before, on February 18, 2012 on a diverted Delta Airlines flight but to get it regularly will be a treat. This will be four-a-week.
- Norwegian Air Shuttle will add destinations on Boeing 787 Aircraft to Fort Lauderdale. Aside from Copenhagen which is the first beginning November, it will begin flying to Oslo, Stockholm, and now London-Gatwick Airport beginning the Fourth of July. This is great news as it enables the chance to see widebody aircraft in KFLL, in regularity, and more so since it will enable South Floridians to see the Dreamliner. However, I'm not sure how long each of these routes will last.
