LEGO City 2015 sets pictures!
Eurobricks member Just2Good posted a slideshow of these sets and I thank him for taking the time to do so.
I really like this line of sets. All repetitions aside, there are a select few that really stand out:
- 60076 Demolition Site - Don't think this is a first for City, but still a very creative and lucrative set. Really love the crane, uses classic arm parts previously seen in the 4565 Freight & Crane Railway, as well as the treads from Indiana Jones (Jungle Cutter) - which really eliminates juniorization from it.
- 60081 Tow Truck - While the tow truck is repetitive at best, and I already have two from 2013 and 2014 lines, at least this one uses a lot of SNOT technique and just looks very detailed. While still 6-12 material, I like ow the technique is continually used. It's very Road Rangers-esque.
- 60067 Helicopter Pursuit - I should call it Everglades pursuit ... feels very set in a South Florida environment LOL. While I don't particularly plan to invest in it, the idea is still great despite the use of a fairly repetitive helicopter. The speedboat on the other hand ... love it!
- 60085 4x4 with Powerboat - My personal favorite! Talk about a sexy set. The decals actually work with this one. The boat is very sleek and well designed with a great balance of the motors and piping. The truck is decent but definitely not the star of the show, though to have the boat portable in a trailer is a nice touch. Adds a lot of playability, or even displayability so to say, as can make for nice dioramas. It will work nicely with an area of my future Christmas layout that remains to be revealed (hint hint!). Only catch is I bet it will be pricey.
- 60069 Swamp Police Station This is probably one of the best CITY sets to date, as similar to its 2012 counterpart, it literally strays away from the basic white and blue. This set is loaded with brown 2x2 round, as well as dark tan elements and dark blue tiles, bricks, and plates. And yes, an airboat. Just like the Everglades. LOL.
One flaw that I do notice is that several trucks have moved to using the 30.4x14 mm wheels. I do not like that particularly as that will up the size of the trucks greatly, and would rather them use the thicker tire with smaller wheel hub (like the one in the Coast Guard set from 2008). The 30.4x14 trend has been noticed since early 2012 with the Forest Police line, as I've noticed it with the 4437 pursuit set, which I got just for those Dark Red elements.
Otherwise a promising winter line for City. Looking forward to the Holidays!
There are a few more, one of which I remember to have another variety of colors in the Swamp Police line, and I'll get to those later when Just2Good covers those as well.
